Transformer Full vs. Actual Load

Postby DeanUser » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:16 pm

I noticed a new parameter in the project library 'Motor and Distribution' category: Transformer Load on Parent Full kVA?

Please explain in detail how this parameter affects my project.

Hi Dean,

Nice to hear from you again, is it true that electrical design is your life?

You are very perceptive to see that we added a project parameter for the user (that's you!) to specify if full load of transformer should be carried up to its parent and all distribution above it in the power tree or just the actual load on the transformer.

If you specify actual load, the utilization devices below the transformer in the power tree will all be captured as usual in the various load types totaled in the panel footer calculations at the transformer's parent distribution device ('Wattage Loads by System' section).

If you specify full load, there will be no change in how the utilization devices below the transformer in the power tree will all be reported. The difference occurs in the 'Panel/Xmer' system load type--where this report '0' (zero) for the above option, it will instead report the difference between the transformer's full load and its actual load. Thus the transformer's full load will be captured at the transformer's parent and on upward in the the power tree calculations--the utilization devices in their respective system loads, the remainder of full load in the 'Panel/Xmer' system load type.
