How does the Single Line Diagram get updated? How can I modify it?

The Single Line Diagram report can be run anytime the user desires & it will regenerate itself to match the current state of the power tree relationships in AutoCAD Model Space (i.e. what is circuited to what in terms of parent and child relationships among branch circuit panels, secondary distribution, central distribution, motor control centers, transformers, and large motors). All protection and feeder selections and fault levels automatically recalculate at the same time.

The Single Line Diagram, like all of our reports, is built out of standard AutoCAD blocks that DraftLogic Electrical snaps together like LEGO to make a unified whole. There are many benefits to this: users can modify any part of the reports, users can export a report as its own DWG, and users can copy/paste/rotate/scale the reports into Model space or into other Layouts as desired.

The panels and other power tree devices (MCCs, CDPs, transformers) are mapped in columns that match their voltage so that lower voltage devices are rightmost columns and higher voltage devices are leftmost. The MDP is in the upper left corner.

Note that each time the Single Line is run the user is asked whether they want to overwrite or retain older versions. If they retain, the existing Single Lines are left as-is on their layouts. A complete history of old Single Line Diagrams can thus be left in the project drawing.
