Usage Attribute List Seems Incomplete

Postby DeanUser » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:54 am

I am looking for some load types on the Usage attribute list in the attribute editor for receptacles and similar devices. Things like Computer or Television. Why aren't these on the list?

The ‘Usage’ list is actually only used for NEC and CEC Suite Derating rules. In a project where there is no suite derating, DraftLogic pays no attention whatsoever to any selection made on the ‘Usage’ list. Users are welcome to select from it at any time for their own information, but the list only has an effect for projects where suite derating is occurring. ‘Computers’ are not on the list as neither the CEC nor the NEC specified special treatment for computer type loads in reference to suite derating—thus computers would fall under the default ‘General Purpose’ type load for suite derating purposes.

If you wish to identify ‘computers’ or any other particular load for any reasons, please let me know the reasons and I will provide alternatives to meet the need and/or book work to add specific functionality to meet the need. Note that at this time, the ‘Equipment Tag’ attribute is a visible attribute that will show whatever text you desire on the plots in case a particular receptacle needs to be marked in a particular way.
